Luminiah
Raised in the wild desert mountains of New Mexico, Luminiah is a third-generation musician whose early musical foundation was built singing blues and folk on the streets of Santa Fe alongside her grandfather. Her roots in soul and storytelling have since evolved into a lush, genre-fluid expression that now thrives in Berlin’s alternative R&B scene.
With lyrics that are witty, spiritual, and affirming, Luminiah uses songwriting as both mirror and medicine — a tool to reflect, heal, and imagine new realities. At just 23, her voice carries a worldliness that invites listeners into emotional intimacy and sonic curiosity.

THE STORY SO FAR
Luminiah’s journey began far from city lights, in the desert mountains of New Mexico. Raised in a family where music was passed down rather than taught, she spent her early years singing blues and folk on the streets of Santa Fe alongside her grandfather — moments that shaped her sense of storytelling, presence, and emotional honesty.
Those roots in soul and folk have since stretched and transformed. Now based in Berlin, Luminiah channels her early influences into a fluid, contemporary sound that sits comfortably within the city’s alternative R&B landscape while refusing to be boxed in.
Her songwriting is playful yet grounded, spiritual without pretense — a space where affirmation, reflection, and imagination coexist. In August 2025, she released her latest EP, Unspoken Words to Past Lovers, through Lekker Collective, marking a new chapter in her evolving sound.
At just 23, Luminiah is still unfolding, but her voice already carries the weight of lived experience, inviting listeners into something intimate, curious, and deeply human.
chapter I: out in time
Emerging alternative R&B artist Luminiah unveils her latest single “out in time”, a sultry, pulsating track that merges electronic soul with poetic introspection. Drawing influence from artists like BINA. and Rosie Lowe, “out in time” pulses with layered textures, hypnotic vocals, and a deep emotional undercurrent.
The song delves into the uneasy terrain of early romance — specifically, the discomfort of being placed on a pedestal by a new lover. Luminiah explores the imbalance that can arise when love turns into idealization, gently pushing back with a message of mutuality and real connection.
“I wrote this song about being put on a pedestal in the beginning stages of love and wanting to retreat,” says Luminiah. “Love should feel like an equal partnership. I’ve been on both sides, and it doesn’t feel good from either end. This track is mellow, imaginative, and rich with electronic ear candy — a reflection of the headspace I was in while listening to a lot of BINA. and Rosie Lowe.” - Luminiah
chapter II: strawberry wine
Inspired by the overwhelming feeling of encountering someone too good to be true, the track is a journey through surrender, sweetness, and the kind of love that dissolves fear.
Written spontaneously in the early hours of the morning after a late-night music session at friend and collaborator Jonas Oberstaller’s house, “strawberry wine” emerged from a moment of pure creative flow. “We were just jamming,” says Luminiah, “but then we both looked at each other and felt it—we had something real. That magic launched a whole new session that didn’t stop until the next night.”
The track channels a similar emotional wavelength to Chris Stapleton’s “Tennessee Whiskey,” paying lyrical reverence to its smooth, heartfelt resonance. Yet, “Strawberry Wine” stands firmly in its own sonic world—soulful, moody, uplifting, and rousing—with Luminiah’s distinct voice and vision at the center.
Inspired by recurring patterns in relationships, where emotional guardedness stifles connection, “chapter III: love alchemy” draws on metaphor and mysticism to explore spiritual healing and emotional transformation. “This song is about holding people accountable to dive deep into themselves,” Luminiah says. “We need to acknowledge our own process and move from stagnancy into expansion.”
Built from a spontaneous freestyle session over a YouTube beat, the track blossomed into a richly layered production of sultry vocal textures, ethereal melodies, and a fierce undercurrent of feminine fire. The result is an immersive listening experience that balances the mystical with the intimate, offering both depth and playfulness.
